Stealthing: It’s Not Ok for Him to Remove the Condom Without Your Consent

What is stealthing?
The new form of sexual abuse, stealthing, is where a man removes the condom mid-sex.
This purposeful non-consensual removal of condoms during sex is unbelievable but real and is a serious offense that needs to stop.
What does it mean?
Stealthing leaves the partner at risk of pregnancy as well as harmful infections, including HIV. The consequence: victims feel violated, and their emotions can be comparable to those in other sexual assault scenarios.

A recent study conducted by Alexandra Brodsky at the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law, includes discussions with victims of stealthing, as reported in The Huffington Post. One of Brodsky’s goals with the article was “to provide a vocabulary and create ways for people to talk about what is a really common experience that just is too often dismissed as just ‘bad sex’ instead of ‘violence.’”
What do I do if I have been a victim of stealthing?
Like with any form of sexual abuse, you need to talk to someone about what has happened and there are many ways to seek help. As Brodsky discusses, stealthing is ‘rape-adjacent’ and needs to be taken seriously.
