London Fashion Week 2018: Modest Looks on and off the Catwalk

by in Culture & Lifestyle on 24th September, 2018

We are blown away by the dramatic shift in the fashion world when it comes to dressing modestly. We are fully aware how easy it is to be modest for both Muslim and non-Muslim women when the chill of London’s Autumn winds arrive in full force. However, London Fashion Week so far has been inundated with bloggers who have layered up with interesting cuts, fabrics, and prints. Bright colour blocking, leopard prints, plastic longline macs, hadith inspired slogans on jackets,  long sleeved maxi evening gowns, and checks everywhere! It is both garish, and inspired, we have moved into a new dimension of dressing, and we are here for it, layers, length, and abayah only shows in New York by designer Vivi Zubedi, modesty seems to have been a clear characteristic for the last three fashion week seasons. From the likes of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and Kanye West. Here are some of the looks we admired from LFW 2018.

My full look from Day One of #LFW ???????? I rarely wear prints, and never wear print on print, so this was a huge step out of my comfort zone! You can check out what I got up to on the @marieclaireuk instastories page – I will update my instastories too but probably in the morning as I have a banging headache right now. Time to take some pain killers, take off this make up, try and ignore the Mum guilt (I haven’t seen Noah all day and he’s staying at my Mums tonight ????????) and hit the pillow before doing it all over again tomorrow ???? Also a huge thank you to @noorandzee for coming through and taking some amazing pics for me! #londonfashionweek #lfwss19 #lfw2018 #lfwstreetstyle #streetstyle #ootd #lfwootd

I just wanted to let you all know I won’t be attending the rest of fashion week. I woke up today feeling rubbish and so overwhelmed; I’ve just picked up Noah from my mums house as he’s been there since Thursday evening. He was hugging and kissing me so much and just thought of having to leave him again two hours later was too much for me.. I just had a little breakdown because if I’m honest, I can’t mentally cope with everything I need to do. It’s our wedding anniversary tomorrow, I still have a bunch of videos and shoots to do, and I’ve got family stuff going on. I always get asked how I juggle everything, and the truth is it’s not possible. Something has to give, and for too long it’s been my mental health, I’ve always pushed myself and I actually thrive on working hard and pushing myself to the extreme. But right now, I need to prioritize how I feel and just being with my son. I’ll still be following the shows from home and doing a trend piece for Marie Claire, but for the moment I need a little break.. hope you guys can all understand ❤️ picture credit; @noorandzee
