Famous politician, former cricketer and philanthropist, Imran Khan has come under a little heat recently due to some of his anti-feminist comments in an interview with a Pakistani television channel. He mentioned how he disagrees with western feminists commenting on how “feminism is degrading the role of motherhood.”
The feminism movement in the West has 'degraded' the role of a mother Imran Khan? Really?! #PTI pic.twitter.com/UwIpEeADil
— Bilal Farooqi (@bilalfqi) June 17, 2018
#Feminism has never looked down on motherhood. Feminists have worked in every country to create paid leave and laws to protect mothers & safety nets so mothers dont leave work to care for kids. Educate yourself #ImranKhan @ImranKhanPTI

I don't think she is saying she's an expert on Khan's life or his women– she is saying Khan is not an expert on motherhood or feminism or women, since Khan is not a woman. Men should refrain from talking about what makes women happy. We speak for ourselves thank you very much.

Hello @ImranKhanPTI. Do you hate feminism because you want women to just make gol rotis & have gori skin? I ask you in this article in @ThePrintIndia https://t.co/vs26ZRRPfX
— Mahwash Ajaz (@mahwashajaz_) June 18, 2018
Imran Khan says 'feminism has downgraded the role of motherhood'. Despite my best efforts to not comment on any PTI shenanigans, this nonsense is objectionable. It is irresponsible and misleading for all young people.

The movement of #feminism seeks to establish equal opportunities for women and end partiarchy, and advocates women rights. I'd now seriously doubt moral values of the one who would support/vote for @ImranKhanPTI or any of the candidates that he nominates.#misogyny @FemMajority
— Ali Abbas (@iAliAbbas) June 18, 2018
Dear @ImranKhanPTI , the feminism movement didn't degrade the value of mother . It was to make the world realize that " Women are not second grade citizens in the society " .
I strongly disagree with your statement regarding feminism . https://t.co/TpWacI4fxN— Dr Ayesha (@DrAyeshaNaveed) June 17, 2018
Imran Khan's views on feminism show his utter lack of understanding of the issue. He should ensure he is better briefed or not speak on issues he has little knowledge and awareness of.
— Abbas Nasir (@abbasnasir59) June 17, 2018
Seems no one told Imran Khan ever what exactly is feminism. The man speaks out of his pre conceived notions about just everything, without having even a shallow information about it let alone in-depth knowledge. https://t.co/GSBQZzhJkB

If feminism is against anything, it is against the double standards that exist in child-rearing. Feminism doesn't degrade the role of mothers, it insists that fathers take responsibility for the life they helped create. https://t.co/PuSzh6xilT

"Feminism, which is from the West, has degraded motherhood." — @ImranKhanPTI
In the meanwhile, his ex-wife, a self declared feminist from the West appears to be a wonderful mother. So maybe he should *literally* look at his own family before making such jarring statements.

Evil feminists such as myself have been speaking out against honour killing and sexual harassment and female infanticide. @mahwashajaz_https://t.co/YeeiKNUF4s

She also educates us that it is because of feminism that she, and her fellow feminists, defend the right of Bushra bibi (Imran Khan's wife) to wear abbaya. The attached screenshots show the level of respect she has for Bushra bibi. pic.twitter.com/5lkq59rtSK

Ayesha Jamshaid posted on her Facebook account: “How can feminism degrade motherhood? Imran Khan I was not expecting this from you. Such a patriarchal and misogynist society where leaders don’t understand the true concept of equality. No doubt mother is always more influential, but this is because of her gender role. A father can be more influential than a mother if society pushes him to take care of kids. People expect so much from a woman.”
Quite intriguing that people are lecturing Imran Khan on feminism and saying he is against equality when PTI awarded the highest number of tickets to women. Even more than Billo Bandri’s “feminist” ass.

Our feminist brigade who is so hurt by @ImranKhanPTI's comments on feminism (not declaring it to be correct or incorrect) had a rich episode of ridiculing Bushra Bibi's choice of attire: Naqab. These ppl are no feminists but bunch of hypocrites, rightly confined to twitter only.
— Sheema Mehkar (@SheemaMehkar) June 17, 2018
Man, I can't believe Imran Khan said something against feminism. I will never vote for him now. I will instead start supporting Pakistan's famous staunch feminists Nawaz Sharif and Zardari.
— Ghauri (@TheSaadGhauri) June 19, 2018
Those who don't believe in motherhood are hurt by Imran Khan statement. Feminism that disown the role of motherhood is indeed a cancer.
— Usman (@iUsmanaliii) June 18, 2018
Tragic to see people defending @ImranKhanPTI’s clear attack on feminism. Feminism is nothing but equality of women. The great irony is that Jinnah supported the suffragette movement even in the 1890s. And today our wannabe Quaid Imran Khan abuses feminism. https://t.co/PzOBn9lMDU
— Yasser Latif Hamdani (@theRealYLH) June 17, 2018
The feminists here practice "selective feminism"; they would show their outrage ONLY when women are abused or demeaned by someone they hate (e.g. Imran Khan). Our feminists are NEVER hurt when Nawaz Sharif, Abid Sher Ali and Rana Sanaullah insinuate PTI women as whores.
— Sheema Mehkar (@SheemaMehkar) June 18, 2018
While I feel Imran Khan will win, I can't help but notice how he is screwing up lately:
– BBC interview – remarks regarding KPK-PTI and Musharraf
– His twisted say on Feminism
– Traveling to KSA on private jet while party workers saying different things on the trip's funding— thiccc and plentiful (@SohaTazz) June 19, 2018
That's exactly my point. Just because he has old fashioned views about certain concepts and movements, that in no way, in my opinion, makes him misyognostic (the word that's liberally and incorrectly used for everything these days) or anti-women rights.
— Mehr Tarar (@MehrTarar) June 17, 2018
Ref @ImranKhanPTI's interview with @AmberRShamsi, IK said he disagrees with the western concept of feminism – never said he disapproves of equal rights for women. You may not like the man, but it doesn't mean that your disdain for him makes him anti women rights.
