Mark Zuckerberg, Facebooks founder, and chief executive has come under serious heat this week following news regarding facebooks privacy policies. The tech innovator was questioned in front of dozens of senators for two days straight at Washingtons Capitol Hill, over the 10th and 11th of April this week regarding Facebooks major scandal surrounding user’s private and sensitive data being sold to major corporations. The org also came under fire for”tampering with votes” and propagating “fake news” on the site, in which Zuckerburg, took full responsibility for, apologising during the hearing, relaying Facebook “should have done more and been more vigilant.” The senator made bold statements concerning the language of the privacy agreement on the App that he claimed felt like it was in “Swahili” designed to divert people from the reality.
On day two of the questioning, the CEO claimed that the “data was harvested”. He also revealed that his firm was exploring whether to take action against the University of Cambridge. The institution in which researcher Aleksandr Kogan, collected and sold personal data to Cambridge Analytica, was based. There has been an uproar on social media with an onslaught of Memes and comic tweets featuring Zuckerburg.

The investigation into #CambridgeAnalytica is tugging at a loose thread that is connected to the very fabric of our society. This scandal isn't just about #Facebook/#Zuckerberg etc. It is about the way corporate power subverts our democracy to its own ends pic.twitter.com/Oos3YkzDjo

A military plane crashed near Algiers on Wednesday 11th April killing 257 people. The plane took off West of Algiers, from Boufarik military airport. The defence ministry reported most among the dead were army personnel and their families, it was recorded that some women and children were among the wreckage, and “30 Western Saharans.” A full investigation is being carried out, to see what caused the catastrophic event, as this is the worst plane crash in Algeria’s history. The government has declared three days to allow for national mourning.

Life coach and author Tony Robbins came under heavy critique this week after a video surfaced last Friday of one of his shows in which he stated to an audience of thousands, that women were using the #MeToo movement to “try to get significance and certainty by attacking and destroying someone else.” The public speaker received a huge amount of negative backlash on social media channels due to his words and actions. During the event, one woman (a survivor of sexual violence and abuse) Mccool, questioned the mogul stating how Mr. Robbins did not understand the nuances of the Me Too movement. The coach and writer proceeded to physically push the woman backward, whilst she physically stood her ground and pushed back on his forceful demeanour. An incredibly uncomfortable snippet of the scene went viral, causing many to question his motives as a survivor of abuse. Robbins issued a statement on his Facebook and Twitter pages detailing his deep regret for his words and actions and the welcoming of knowledge to better understand the movement.

US officials say Yassmin Abdul Magied was deported to Amsterdam as a result of not having a “correct visa” even though the public speaker, has travelled to the US on the same visa previously. The Australian author, activist, and TV personality, Abdel-Magied was due to speak at the ‘PEN World Voices festival in New York’, but she was denied entry to the country at Minneapolis airport. She was put on a plane bound for Amsterdam shortly after. The incident caught traction in the mainstream media shortly after it was documented by our girl on Twitter.
"We call on Customs and Border Patrol to admit @yassmin_a to the U.S. so that she can take her rightful place in the urgent international conversation to take place at the @PENworldvoices Festival next week." https://t.co/QjazQRoPPH
