We have all been there, in an interview, a few emails sent back and forth, at school, in the playground. Having an ‘exotic’ sounding name seems to cause many awkward interactions with those who just can’t for the life of them learn to roll their tongues and pronounce the tonations properly. Especially an Arabic H, forget it. I’m sure you are fully familiar with correcting people in both text and life, and how guilty you feel for it, no stranger to that out of place feeling you are forced to encounter at times when you’re surrounded with Johns, Tim’s, Jessica’s and Laura’s. Sturdy, ‘easy names’, that no one seems to get wrong!
