The intricacies of this beautifully made, cinematic delight, produced by 31-year-old African-American director Ryan Coogler is just far too broad for us to take on in one post. The tribal techno fusion, equipped with a witty script, taking on years of culture and history of racial oppression with a substantial amount of humour. The chills crawling through our spines as we are taken on a spaceship to Wakanda, the parting of the clouds revealed a country in Africa rich in resources, technologically advanced, with the potential to be a world superpower. We couldn’t help but feel emotional and saddened, and lament on how this could have come to pass in reality had Africa’s colonial history been different. Not to mention the incredible cast, the beautiful costume design, the lustrous land of Wakanda,  amongst some of the fantastic features that blew us away.

What does Representation mean? Are Brands Capitalising or Caring?

Here are Amaliah’s most important lines from this incredible Film

T’ Challa ; “Wakanda will no longer watch from the shadows. We can not. We must not. We will work to be an example of how we, as brothers and sisters on this earth, should treat each other. Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe”.

Erik Killmonger: “Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, cause they knew death was better than bondage”.

Shuri: “Don’t scare me like that, coloniser!”

King T’ Chaka: “The world is changing. Soon there will only be the conquered and the conquerors. You are a good man, with a good heart. And it’s hard for a good man to be a king.”

Everret K Ross: “You’re telling me that the king of a Third World country runs around in a bulletproof catsuit”?

Okoye:  “Guns… so primitive!”

King T : “Chaka A man who has not prepared his children for his own death has failed as a father.”

T’ Challa “In times of crisis, the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe”

T’Chaka continued, “You’re going to struggle so surround yourself with people you trust.”

T’Challa, “I have seen gods fly.  I have seen men build weapons that I couldn’t even imagine.  I have seen aliens drop from the sky.  But I have never seen anything like this.  How much more are you hiding?

Killmonger’s father said to him: “No man is perfect, not even your father.  You can’t let your father’s mistakes define who you are.”
