This Week in World News Starting With Iraq & Iran Earthquake

Earthquake in Iraq and Iran

Over 300 people have died and 4,000 have been injured after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the border between Iraq and Iran. Whilst the Earthquake has hit the border, most deaths have happened in Iran. The Earthquake was felt as far as Turkey and Pakistan.

Muslim worshippers praying in streets is being opposed in France

Riot police were called at a protest against Muslim worshippers on Friday. Muslim worshippers had been using the main square to pray as the usual prayer hall nearby had been shut down by the mayor which facilitated up to 5000 worshippers daily.

It has been reported that the French Mayor along with MP’s and councillors from around Paris came together and a stand off took place.

Saudi Military led airstrike and blockade

A Saudi-military led airstrikes reported to have killed over 20 people in a market at Yemen, the area itself has been totally destructed and unrecognisable. Aid has also been blocked which is vital to survivors and those injured.

Eritrea, The North Korea of Africa

  • The President, Isaias Afwerki has ruled for 26 years with no democratic elections held.
  • Eritrea has mandatory military conscription, forcing young men to join against their will as soon as they leave school, with little pay. Those who don’t comply are often arrested and tortured, and sent back to military service.
