If you haven’t worked as hard as you wanted to during Ramadan, the last ten days provides you with an opportunity to challenge yourself and exert more effort. Below are some deeds with weighty rewards that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine.
Daily Dhikr
Not only does Dhikr help us to remember Allah SWT and glorify him, the rewards promised for doing them are immense. It is arguably one of the easiest acts of worship to with some only requiring sixty seconds of your time! Below is an example of one you can start doing from now.
The Prophet PBUH ﷺ said:
“Whosoever says: ‘Subhan’Allah wa bihamdih’ one hundred times a day, Allah will forgive his sins even if they were as great as the foam of the sea.” (Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
Imagine the benefit of doing this daily during Ramadan and after. So start developing this habit now!
Recitation of the Qur’an
Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an. A primary aim of Ramadan is for us to engage better with the Qur’an, its messages, and wisdom. If you haven’t been able to benefit from the book of Allah as much as you wanted in this blessed month, there are plenty opportunities left for you to do so. Even if you can only recite for five minutes, it’s better than not doing anything.
The Prophet PBUH ﷺ said to his Companions:
“Could any one of you not recite one third of the Qur’an in one night?’ They found the idea too difficult and said: ‘Who among us could do that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, ‘Allaahu’l-ahad, al- samad [i.e. Surah al-Ikhlaas] is one third of the Qur’an.’” (Reported by Bukhari, 4628)
As you can see from the Hadith above, there is no excuse not to benefit from the book of Allah during this month! We also have two Fridays left in this blessed month, so benefit from reciting Surah Kahf on Friday as well.
The Prophet PBUH ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on the day of Friday will have a light for him between this Friday and the next.”
Supererogatory Prayers
With just 12 Nawafil prayers, Allah SWT has guaranteed to us a house in Jannah.
The Prophet PBUH ﷺ said:
“Allah will build a dwelling in Paradise for anyone who prays twelve supererogatory rak’ah daily in addition to the compulsory prayers.” (Sahih Muslim)
Who doesn’t want a house in Jannah?
Dua and Repentance
Ramadan is a month for us to increase in our duas and continually ask Allah SWT for his forgiveness and mercy. The dua below is one that the Prophet PBUH encouraged us to make especially in the last ten days of Ramadan.
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni
(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).” (At-Tirmidhi)
Lastly, strive to catch Laylatul Qadr which is the most blessed night and good deeds performed on that single night are equal to those performed over a thousand months.
