Summer Skincare Heroes

As the summer months approach, it is important to switch up your skincare to prevent sun damage and blocked pores from the heat and humidity! Here’s a breakdown of some of my favourite products for this season to keep your skin fresh and glowing.

SPF
Sunscreen is a must throughout the entire year, whatever season it is, you should be wearing SPF! However, in the summer months, Asian skin like mine is especially more prone to discolouration therefore uneven skin tone. It is always better to prevent rather than try and correct.

My SPF of choice is:
Kiehls Ultra light SPF 50 Daily Defense

It doesn’t clog my pores and it’s SPF 50.. win!

Masks

As your skin is producing more oils over the summer and the heat is creating unwanted sebum, it is important to remove the excess oil. My favourite way to do this is by using charcoal masks at least 3 times a week. Charcoal masks work best in the summer as they suck out all the excess oils in the skin.
My mask of choice is:

This mask is amazing for clarifying the skin and sucking out all the gunk! I have 2 backups of this, I’m obsessed!

Moisturiser
It is important to ensure you switch your moisturiser in the summer to a light weight oil-free moisturiser. Moisturising is key to plump skin so make sure you are still moisturising. Thick moisturises in the summer will only clog pores more so it is important to use a lighter one.
My moisturiser of choice is:
Ole Henriksen Sheer transformation

This is a little on the pricey side however one 50ml tub will get you through the whole summer. I’ve been using this for years now and I cannot get enough! It provides the right amount of moisture and as a bonus, it also brightens the skin as it’s got some Vitamin C packed in, loveee!

Exfoliating Toner

I love exfoliating, I love the glow it provides straight after and the smooth canvas it gives overnight for perfect makeup application. Exfoliation is key for glowy skin over the summer, my personal preference is chemical exfoliation.  It prevents breakouts, clears blackheads/whiteheads and gets rid of excess oils on the skin. What more could you ask for?

This has been a HG of mine for years, not only in the summer months but whenever my skin needs a pick me up, this works miracles. It’s perfect for summer as it gently exfoliates the skin and takes off dead skin cells for brighter, tighter skin. This is a must have this season!
